About Our Organization

Autism Speaks

WITH 1:150 CHILDREN AFFECTED, AUTISM IS AN EPIDEMIC: The goal of this event is to raise much needed dollars for autism research, awareness, advocacy and family services. This event raised more than $225,000 in 2007 and helped us surpass the $million mark over the race’s history over the past 7 years. Thank you to all past and present participants, donors, and sponsors. In addition to the registration fee, we strongly urge participants to raise money by asking for donations from friends and family. Please have all check donations payable to Autism Speaks. The easiest and fastest way to fundraise is online. Last year, teams and individuals raised over $60,000 in additional contributions!!!! *10% of pre-registration fees will benefit SPORTS PLUS. SPORTS PLUS is a non-profit that offers uniquely structured coed sports programs for verbal children able to follow multistep directions between the ages of 5 and 11 with mild to moderate Autism spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD and other developmental disabilities. Now in its 7th season, SPORTS PLUS programs are designed for children whose capabilities fit between existing mainstream sports programs and adaptive sports programs designed for children with moderate to severe developmental disabilities. SPORTS PLUS currently operates programs providing services to more than 150 families throughout Montgomery and Howard counties.

AWARDS: Cash awards to top male ($200) and female ($200) overall finishers. Those checks will be mailed to the winners during the week following the race.
