Autism Speaks’ Rock ‘Til It Stops event sold out its first year at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum raising more than $300,000. 20% of the money raised will go directly to local research and services in Cleveland and throughout Ohio.
The evening began with major donors and sponsors enjoying a fabulous cocktail reception and dinner in the multi-leveled Rock Hall followed by a beautiful appetizer and dessert spread for all guests to enjoy throughout the remainder of the evening. The evening’s honorees were Norma Lerner, Susan Ratner, Eileen McShea and Kristen and Stephen Stills – all leaders in the autism community. Other special guests included Congressman Dennis Kucinich and his wife Elizabeth, former Director of the NIH Dr. Bernadine Healy and her husband Dr. Floyd Loop, President and CEO of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum Terry Stewart and President and CEO of The Cleveland Foundation Ronn Richard,. Guests bid on silent auction items that featured signed guitars from The Jonas Brothers and Maroon 5, a signed Braylon Edwards jersey, Cleveland Browns tickets and a behind-the-scenes tour and tickets to “Late Night with Conan O'Brien” The big ticket items auctioned live included two guitars signed by Crosby, Stills and Nash, a drum skin signed by Max Weinberg of Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band, and a Fender guitar from the recently released Martin Scorsese film about The Rolling Stones “Shine a Light” – a priceless collector’s item.
The highlights of the evening were incredible performances by Cleveland’s own Michael Stanley and the world renowned and two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Stephen Stills of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.
Our 2008 event was a smashing success and a night to remember. Planning is already underway for next year’s event
