Steps to Success

Determine what type of events take place at the University or surrounding area.  Typically race/walk events are common at larger universities and the campus police have procedures in place to handle these types of larger events.

Contact Office of Student Affairs.  They will provide contact numbers and undoubtedly provide assistance in the pre-planning and planning stages.

Identify event goals.  In order to have a successful event we suggest that as a committee you outline a clear event structure from start to finish.  While it does not need to be extensive, it should encapsulate the major details.  In addition, it would be helpful to create monetary and participation targets, as this will be beneficial in structuring your advertising campaign. 

Build a steering committee that can evaluate the feasibility and likelihood of an event at your campus.
